SCROLL DOWN

Origins of TEH

A revolutionary new way to think of exposure and primary prevention.

--     Total Exposure Health is a strategy to evaluate individuals’ exposures to hazards at work, from the environment, and lifestyle choices, integrating these evaluations with health promotions initiatives to better ensure the long-term health of the individual

--    Occupational and environmental health programs have focused on safety and reducing worker exposures to risk factors in the work environment

--    Health promotion programs have focused almost exclusively on lifestyle factors off the job that place workers at risk

--    Research supports effectiveness of combining these efforts through workplace initiatives that integrate OH and health promotion programs

--     Total Exposure Health also considers lifestyle i.e, exposures from recreational activities and genetics/genomics affecting a person’s predispositions to disease.

--    NIOSH and CDC are collaborating on the Total Worker Health™ initiative

--    Defined by NIOSH as “a strategy integrating occupational safety and health protection with health promotion to prevent worker injury and illness and to advance health and well-being”
